Maternity Leave Notice

Marlene is currently on maternity leave from September 2026. Updates regarding her return to teaching will be posted here when available.

“Marlene is an extraordinary musician:

On the one hand, she is highly qualified and experienced on her instrument, the violin - both in the so-called "modern" and in the "historical" way of playing.

On the other hand, she is particularly open and interested in encounters and interactions with other musicians. What is striking are, for example, her outstanding language skills and her organizational skills as well as her pedagogical skills.

Working with Marlene is always enriching for everyone involved in many ways, which I was able to experience several times myself!

I wish her all the best on her way!”

- Prof. Michael Schneider (HfMDK Frankfurt/ "La Stagione Frankfurt"/ CAMERATA COLOGNE)

“As an adult student in the early stages of learning to play the violin, I have been extremely fortunate that I could study with Marlene.

For two years she has been a fantastic support, guiding me with great care and warmth, allowing my learning to unfold at my own pace. As a result I have been able to fulfil my own musical goals which have included belonging to local community orchestras and performing publicly at the AUSTA festivals and studio concert. This has been immensely musically rewarding.

As a piano teacher myself, I recognise Marlene's enormous depth of musical knowledge and generosity in sharing it. This has inspired her students to achieve continued, outstanding success in AMEB exams, local festivals and competitions. A notable observation has been her respectful interactions with students and families through informative newsletters that celebrate student achievements and detail concert attendance opportunities for further musical growth.

A recent studio concert saw Marlene perform duets with all her students, demonstrating how committed she is in supporting each student at every stage of their learning.

It is an honour to be a student of Marlene's Violin Studio and I highly recommend her as an exceptional teacher to all prospective students.” - Nicola Ashcroft-Buck
